The National University Student Championship in Mongolian Wrestling will be organized with the aim of improving the wrestling skills of students practicing traditional Mongolian wrestling, supporting athletes’ career development and professional education, enhancing advanced training opportunities, and promoting Mongolia’s rich cultural heritage.
The competition will take place on May 1, 2026, at the Mongolian Wrestling Palace.
The event is jointly organized by the Mongolian National Wrestling Federation and the School of Physical Education of the Mongolian National University of Education (MNUE), with “Yangir Khairkhan” LLC serving as the main sponsor.
Eligible participants include undergraduate and graduate students (ages 18–25) from universities and colleges with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Each institution may register up to four wrestlers per weight category.
The competition will be held in the following weight divisions:
-65 kg, -75 kg, -85 kg, -95 kg, +95 kg, and Absolute category.
In the absolute category, champions from each weight class, along with additional selected medalists, will compete.
Registration is open until April 27, 2026, via the UNIQ application. The registration fee is 30,000 MNT until April 15, and 50,000 MNT thereafter.
The matches will follow the official rules of the Mongolian National Wrestling Federation and will be conducted using a single-elimination format. Wrestlers who lose in the quarterfinals will compete in repechage matches. Winners of 1st, 2nd, and joint 3rd places in each category will receive medals and prizes. A special award will also be given for the Best Performance and Traditional Entrance (Devee).
This championship plays an important role in fostering students’ physical development, discipline, and national pride, while preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Mongolian wrestling.
