Four students from the Sports Tourism Program at the School of Physical Education, Mongolian National University of Education (MNUE), have been recognized among the “Top 20 Best Interns” under the “MNT 1 Billion Scholarship Internship Program 2026,” each receiving a scholarship of MNT 1.5 million.
The “MNT 1 Billion Scholarship Internship Program” is an annual human resource development initiative organized by the Tourism Education and Development Association. The program aims to strengthen the practical knowledge and professional competencies of students pursuing degrees in tourism, enhance their employment prospects, and support the development of a skilled workforce for Mongolia's tourism industry.
In 2026, approximately 300 students from 10 universities and higher education institutions registered for the program. Of these, 136 students who met the eligibility criteria advanced to a two-stage selection process.
Following the competitive evaluation, 20 outstanding students were selected as the program's Best Interns in recognition of their professional knowledge, practical performance, skills, commitment, and achievements during their internships.
Four students from the Sports Tourism Program at MNUE's School of Physical Education were among the successful candidates:
B. Enkhsuren – Fourth-year student, Sports Tourism Program
G. Nomin-Erdene – Fourth-year student, Sports Tourism Program
E. Uuriintuya – Third-year student, Sports Tourism Program
P. Ulziimunkh – Second-year student, Sports Tourism Program
Each student received a MNT 1,500,000 scholarship named after the Mongolian Tourism Professional Association (MTO), bringing the total scholarship amount awarded to the four MNUE students to MNT 6 million.
As part of the 2026 program, approximately 20 students from MNUE's Sports Tourism Program participated in professional internships lasting more than 90 days.
The students gained valuable hands-on experience at tour operating companies, tourist camps, hotels, and other tourism-related organizations.
These internships provided opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in real working environments while developing essential professional competencies, including customer service, teamwork, communication, organizational skills, workplace ethics, and professional responsibility.
Furthermore, the experience enabled students to establish connections with potential employers, better understand labor market expectations, and improve their readiness for future employment in the tourism industry.
The achievements of MNUE's Sports Tourism students demonstrate the importance of integrating academic education with practical industry experience.
Professional internship initiatives such as the MNT 1 Billion Scholarship Internship Program contribute to bridging the gap between university education and industry requirements. They also encourage closer collaboration among higher education institutions, professional associations, tourism enterprises, and employers.
Through participation in such initiatives, students gain practical experience and develop the professional skills and competencies required to succeed in Mongolia's growing tourism sector.
The recognition of four MNUE students among the nation's top interns represents a significant achievement for the Sports Tourism Program and highlights the students' dedication to academic excellence and professional development.
The School of Physical Education at the Mongolian National University of Education extends its warmest congratulations to B. Enkhsuren, G. Nomin-Erdene, E. Uuriintuya, and P. Ulziimunkh on being selected as Best Interns of 2026.
We wish them continued success in their academic studies, professional development, and future careers, and look forward to their contributions to the sustainable development of Mongolia's tourism industry.
