Introduction to the School of Physical Education, MNUE

The School of Physical Education of the Mongolian National University of Education (MNUE) is a long-established institution with rich traditions, playing a significant role in the development of physical education and sports education in Mongolia.


Historical Development

The school was originally established in 1955 as the Department of Physical Education under the State Pedagogical Institute, with 5 faculty members and 30 students.

Between 1963 and 1968, it expanded into an independent institution known as the Institute of Physical Education (IPE), operating with 5 departments, over 30 faculty members, and more than 300 students at the Central Sports Palace.

Since 1968, the structure has evolved through several stages:

  • Faculty of Physical Education, Ulaanbaatar State Pedagogical Institute
  • Faculty of Physical Education and Arts
  • Institute of Physical Education, Ulaanbaatar State University
  • School of Physical Education, MNUE
  • School of Arts and Physical Education (2014–2017)
  • School of Physical Education, MNUE (since 2017)

Since 2025, the school has been led by Director O. Bold-Erdene (Ph.D).

Currently, the school operates with:

  • 4 departments
  • Over 40 faculty and staff members
  • Approximately 1,000 students

Among the current faculty members, 59% hold doctoral (Ph.D) degrees, reflecting a highly qualified academic workforce.

The school has produced numerous distinguished alumni, including Heroes of Labor, People’s Teachers, Honored Teachers, Honored Coaches, and Honored Athletes, demonstrating the quality and impact of its education.


Digital Environment and Learning Facilities

The school is fully equipped with modern digital infrastructure and facilities:

  • 597.2 m² sports hall with electronic scoreboards, sound system, and music equipment
  • 134.7 m² lecture hall with 120 seats, equipped with a smart board, microphone, and audio system
  • 10 seminar rooms (30–45 m²), equipped with smart displays and internet access
  • Portable projectors for use in sports halls
  • Research laboratory equipped with Dartfish and other analytical software
  • All faculty members are provided with both desktop and laptop computers
  • Dedicated rooms for podcast production and digital content creation
  • Self-service kiosks (TÜC machines) for accessing transcripts, payment information, and certificates (in Mongolian and English)
  • Free access to internet, electricity, and purified drinking water
  • Library and student self-service facilities
