Office of Academic Programs
The Office of Academic Programs of the School of Physical Education is headed by Dr. (Ph.D.) G. Battsetseg, with Kh. Doljinkhand, B. Nomintsatsral, and D. Munkh-Erdene serving as academic specialists.
The Office of Academic Programs is responsible for organizing and coordinating the development, review, approval, and implementation of all outcome-based bachelor's and master's degree programs that meet the actual labor market demands of the physical education and sports sector. The office submits academic programs for review and approval by the relevant committees and ensures the implementation of approved curricula and study plans. In addition, it oversees faculty recruitment, academic rank evaluation, workload calculation for teaching, research, and creative activities, performance monitoring and assessment, and the planning and implementation of faculty development programs.

The following academic programs have been accredited by the Mongolian National Council for Education Accreditation:
The bachelor’s program in Physical Education Teacher Education was accredited twice, in 2020 and 2025.
The bachelor’s program in Sports Coaching was accredited in 2023.
The master’s program in Physical Education Teacher Education was accredited in 2024.
The Office of Academic Programs coordinates student exchange programs with selected universities in the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China, as well as with the Mongolian National Defence University. It also engages current students and master’s graduates in projects and contract-based research conducted by the Mongolian National University of Education, thereby supporting the development of their research skills.

Through these partnerships, the School works collaboratively to train qualified professionals for the physical education and sports sector.
The Department was established in 1963 as the Department of Theory and Methodology, making it one of the first departments founded when the independent Institute of Physical Education was separated from the State Teachers’ Institute.
Its name has changed several times. Beginning in the 2017–2018 academic year, it was known as the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Education and Sports. In 2025, it was renamed the Department of Professional Theory and Methodology of Sports.

The Department is primarily responsible for teaching theory and methodology in physical education and sports, as well as courses in sports journalism, sports tourism, sports management, history, and law. It develops, updates, and implements academic standards and curricula in these fields.
It also supervises teaching practice, journalism internships, and tourism fieldwork, organizing various forms of practical training to prepare future physical education teachers, sports journalists, and tourism professionals for employment.
During the past five years, the Department has conducted more than 20 professional development training programs for secondary-school physical education teachers. It has also organized locally commissioned and specialized modular training courses, providing consultation and support to improve teachers’ theoretical and methodological knowledge.
The Department is additionally responsible for the School’s master’s programs. Its responsibilities include:
Assisting students in selecting research topics and supervisors
Reviewing research plans and progress
Organizing thesis defenses
Developing and implementing initiatives to improve the quality and outcomes of graduate education
This year, the Department organized a major seminar on sports journalism and invited well-known journalists who had graduated from the School. Participants discussed ways to further improve the Sports Journalism program.
Students in the Sports Tourism program have also established a tradition of completing paid internships in Japan’s tourism industry. Faculty members and students regularly participate in the national Grand Tour Tourism Olympiad and the Tourism Research Conference, where they have consistently achieved outstanding results.
The Department of Team Sports was one of the first departments established in 1963. From the 2017–2018 academic year, it operated under the Department of Sports. In 2025, it became an independent department.

The Department is headed by L. Narantuya, Honored Athlete of Mongolia.
The Department successfully develops, updates, and implements volleyball, basketball, and football curricula within the Physical Education Teacher Education and Sports Coaching programs.
In addition to bachelor’s and master’s programs for coaches in team sports, the Department is responsible for advanced supplementary training. It has signed cooperation agreements with Mongolian sports federations and works with them to prepare professional coaches.
The Department uses a variety of practical learning activities, including:
Referee training in team sports
Practical officiating sessions
Training in the organization and management of entry-level competitions
The Department annually organizes basketball, volleyball, football, and tennis championships for the Mongolian National University of Education and the School of Physical Education.
Since 2020, it has organized the MNUE Open Volleyball Tournament for senior secondary-school students. This initiative aims to recruit talented young athletes to the School and support youth development.
The Department also prepares student-athletes for national university championships and league competitions. As a result, its graduates continue to become professional players in Mongolia’s top national basketball, volleyball, and football leagues.

When the independent Institute of Physical Education was established in 1963, the Department of Gymnastics and the Department of Athletics were among its first academic departments.
From the 2017–2018 academic year, instruction in these sports was administered under the Department of Sports. Since 2025, it has been managed by the independent Department of Individual Sports.

Faculty members and students have achieved notable results in aerobics and athletics.

Participated twice in World Championships
Participated five times in Asian Championships and won one bronze medal
Participated 47 times in national championships and named competitions, winning 63 gold, 37 silver, and 28 bronze medals
Participated 12 times in international open competitions, winning four gold, two silver, and eight bronze medals
In athletics, since 2020:
Three athletes have earned the title of Master of Sport
Two athletes have set new national records
Students have consistently achieved leading positions in national championships and university sports festivals
The Department is expanding its efforts to strengthen faculty research capacity by supporting collaborative research with young lecturers and increasing academic publication.

In 2025, the former Department of Physical Education, which had been responsible for the physical development and fitness activities of faculty members, staff, and students of the Mongolian National University of Education, was restructured and renamed the Department of Physical Education and Movement Therapy.

Some faculty members teach Physical Education I and II, which provide general physical education to students of the Mongolian National University of Education.
Faculty members who are qualified medical doctors teach health- and medical-science-related courses within the Physical Education Teacher Education and Sports Coaching programs.
The Department is headed by Sh. Enkhburen.
Faculty members successfully implemented a basic research project funded by the Mongolian National University of Education and published two articles in international journals.
They also published:
A collaborative monograph entitled Issues in Students’ Physical Development and Fitness in 2024
A textbook entitled Physical Education in 2025, prepared for use by all students of the Mongolian National University of Education
To support active lifestyles and the productive use of leisure time among faculty members, staff, and students, the Department regularly organizes fitness, aerobics, yoga, and volleyball classes two or three times per week. It also provides schedules for recreational basketball and volleyball sessions.
The University’s annual sports festival has been expanded to include more than ten events. New activities include modern dance, workplace exercise, and cornhole, in addition to traditional sporting events.
The Department continually updates and implements course standards and curricula in accordance with contemporary needs for the following subjects:

Physiology of the healthy human body
Sports physiology
Sports medicine
Therapeutic physical education
Massage
Health and healthy living
With support from Masan University in the Republic of Korea, the Department acquired movement-therapy equipment and teaching materials and established a small movement-therapy laboratory. The facility is used for health- and medical-science-related courses.
The Department also organizes the annual student research conference entitled “A Sound Mind in a Healthy Body.” Students from other universities are welcome to participate and present their research at the conference.
